Nintendo has announced another fighter for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. That character is Fire Emblem protagonist Marth. The sword-wielding is the eighteenth character to be announced for the game.
Marth was first introduced in Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Gamecube and returned for Super Smash Bros. Brawl on the Wii. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, fellow Fire Emblem hero Ike made his debut appearance fighting alongside Marth. Ike has not yet been confirmed or denied a spot on the roster.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the fourth entry in mascot-brawler franchise and the first to be released on a handheld platform. Both platforms will share the same character roster, but the stages will be different. The Wii U release will have stages from console games and the 3DS will have stages from handheld games. With Fire Emblem being more of a handheld franchise we should suspect that a stage from the Fire Emblem will be featured on the 3DS version.
Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are out sometime in 2014.
