It’s a good thing I’m not the president of video games, because I’d have banned zombies about fifteen games ago. And if the DayZ sales are any indication, my impeachment would have commenced shortly thereafter.
According to Mark Spanel, CEO of publisher Bohemia Interactive, DayZ has sold over 170,000 copies in its first 24 hours on the market. Stranger, even, is that the game has achieved such success while still in alpha. Spanel also revealed that over 140,000 players were online, and that many bugs were discovered in the process.
The survival-horror is currently available on Steam for $29.99, along with a warning that it should not be purchased unless you’re “interested in supporting development” and are prepared to handle “serious issues and possible interruptions.”
