Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Gets a Limited Edition 3DS XL in Japan

There are all sorts of good things cooking in the proverbial Persona oven. With Persona 5 in the works, in addition to Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold and of course the Etrian Odyssey-inspired Persona Q, it would seem that the coming years will be very kind of the obscure, but wholly lovable JRPG franchise. Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth looks especially interesting, thanks to its unique, chibi-esque art style and first-person, dungeon-delving mechanics. Of course, being headed up by Etrian Odyssey IV director Daisuke Kaneda certainly doesn’t hurt its potential, either.

Still, out of the three games, it would seem like it’d be the least likely to earn itself a special edition system, and yet that’s what today’s news has unveiled. According to Siliconera, Atlus and Nintendo will be headed into business together, putting out a limited edition Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Nintendo 3DS XL. The system itself will of course feature special art, however at this time, details about what the handheld will look exactly have yet to be released. We also do not have a price point for the system either, though it will probably run the usual special edition amount (~$300-350). Now if only we could get Nintendo to realize it’s 2014 and that region-locked systems aren’t good for developers or gamers…

That being so, the game will also release on its own, with first-print copies bundling a a Persona Q: Sound of the Labyrinth soundtrack CD.
