Have you heard about Minecraft? It’s pretty popular. Evidently, 100 million registered users popular according to Markus “Notch” Persson, the man behind the wildly successful title. In a recent tweet, Notch also claimed that Minecraft had a 14.3% conversion rate to paid accounts — quite an impressive number.
If you’re one of the few to have never heard of Minecraft, it’s an open world, sandbox game with no discernible goals. Players can explore the world, collecting cubes, treasure and equipment and use them to build various structures. There’s multiplayer for those with friends, and… who am I kidding? If you’re one of the few to have never heard of Minecraft, you probably can’t read.
I got an email. We’ve reached 100 million registered users on the original Minecraft. 14.3% conversion rate to paid accounts. Wow. 😀 <3
