Rumor: Assassin’s Creed Unity Leaked, Takes Place During French Revolution

February has passed us by and we still don’t know anything about this year’s Assassin’s Creed game.  Ubisoft has used February in the past to announce Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but not a peep has come out of the publisher.  Well it looks like someone may have leaked the game.

An anonymous source sent Kotaku a few images and details from the next Assassin’s Creed game.  Codenamed Assassin’s Creed Unity, the game will take place during the French Revolution, which occurred between 1789-1799.  One of the game’s locations will be Paris, France.  The screenshots showcase Notre Dame, the Seine River and other Paris landmarks.  The playable assassin will apparently be named Arno.

Interestingly, this will supposedly be one of two Assassin’s Creed games releasing this year.  Unity will be a next-gen exclusive title and take full advantage of the PS4 and Xbox One architecture.  A second game, supposedly codenamed Comet, will launch on PS3 and Xbox 360.  No word on what game the PC will get, possibly both.  Kotaku has not heard anything about Wii U getting one of the games.

Take this information with a grain of salt.  Also, all of the screenshots are taken from an early version of the supposed game and are not representative of the final product.  Hopefully Ubisoft will announce something soon.
