Visual Novels are slowly but surely creeping their way into the gaming scene here in North America. While the genre has seen success for many, many years in Japan, until recently they’ve never really caught fire in the West. Thus, jumping on the new found, but still very niche, market, Italian indie developer Storm in a Teacup has gone on the record to confirm that they are bringing their upcoming game NERO to the Wii U eShop, in addition to Steam, Xbox One, and 3DS. Yep, that’s right, the Wii U, getting some love – a breath of fresh air, indeed.
Although information about NERO has been limited, creative director at Storm in a Teacup, Carlo Bianchi, spoke to Official Nintendo Magazine, describing it as a “next-generation visual novel”.
On the topic of the game’s Wii U launch, it has been revealed that it will make use of the GamePad to ensure that the main screen is free of UI clutter, utilizing the controller’s display for all the important user-interface elements.
In terms of what NERO actually is, the official website states:
NERO is a wonderful journey in a world of incredible beauty where a kid is the key to all locks and the night is not as frightening as we all could think. NERO is about love. NERO is about faith. NERO is about feelings. NERO is about questions that need answers.
