If you were a fan of rhythm-based music games during the PS2 era then you more than likely have heard of Amplitude. Well the original team is working hard at Harmonix to create a successor to the classic for PS4 and PS3, however, they can’t do it alone and have taken to Kickstarter looking for your help.
For just $775,000, another Amplitude will become a realization. The game will use the studios’s proprietary engine to create an “HD reinvisioning” of the critically adored game. This ensures “better control over timing windows,” and “allow us to run at 60 frames per second and smoothly port the existing mechanics to PS3 and PS4.”
“We’re aiming to deliver an updated soundtrack, incredible visuals, and fine-tuned controls,” the developer wrote on the Kickstarter page. The soundtrack will be mostly comprised of original scores, but if enough people back the Kickstarter then the team might be able to license big-name music. The team also notes that the game will retain it’s insane difficulty.
The Kickstarter campaign will end on May 23 with an expected release date of June 2015.
