Hellblade Developers Release Fifth Development Diary

We first heard about Hellblade back at Gamescom this year, although at the time Ninja Theory only gave us the vaguest of ideas as to what the game would be about. Thanks to a series of development diaries, however, we’re slowly learning more about not only the game itself, but the goals and motivations of the people working on it as well.

The latest development diary was just released, and in it we gain some insight as to why a big company like Ninja Theory is going with the self publishing model that is usually reserved for smaller, independent companies. They are really selling the game as sort of a “AAA Independent,” assuming that while the game is of AAA quality it will boast a strong emphasis on their unique vision — a driving force behind many small game developers.

It will be interesting to see if more companies end up adopting a similar business model during this current console generation, as I’m sure there would be quite the market for this sort of hybrid between indie and AAA gaming.

Hellblade does not have an official release date as of yet, but will be released for the PlayStation 4 in the future.
