You know what’s cool? Virtual reality.
While I was initially under the impression that headsets like the Oculus Rift and Sony’s Project Morpheus would be little more than expensive right joysticks you attach to your face, playing Superhot in full VR glory proved that this trend has the potential to be more than a mere gimmick. This latest Oculus Rift tweak, courtesy of the fine folks at Leap Motion, Inc., allows players to switch from the alternate realm provided by their virtual reality headset to the current realm that likely involves their sad carcasses sitting in some old chair.
The only thing required of those who want to use the Quick Switch application, which has the potential to allow those who experience VR sickness to quickly snap out of their experience, is a Leap Motion Controller. Attaching said Leap Motion Controller to the front of the Oculus Rift and installing the Quick Switch application allows players to initiate this simple, but mind-boggling and infinitely cool, mechanic at any time.
Let’s be real though, if you’re spending all that time and money on a headset that allows you to have floating robot hands, would you really want to snap out of that experience? Who needs food and water if you have virtual floating robot hands.
