If there’s one group of people you can always count on to invest thousands of hours into a project that will likely result in a lawsuit or financial troubles: it’s the gaming community. And while more often than not these large-scale ambitions fizzle and die, when they succeed it’s almost overwhelmingly heartwarming.
Enter ‘New Paper Mario‘, a fan-made title by Swiss game design student “Nelde.”
The project’s end-goal is to replace every texture in the colorful, story-book Nintendo title and ensure its availability on any well-functioning N64 emulator. According to Nelde, the project was started in 2010 and is still “nowhere close to being completed,” though the video below certainly speaks highly of the work.
