Hatred has been stirring the pot of cultural acceptability for months now, but its controversial Greenlight success has given it life on Steam. The ESRB recently stirred more with a hard-hitting, but not necessarily unexpected rating.
As confirmed on the developers’ message boards, Hatred has received an AO (Adults Only) rating by the ESRB.
As the devs state, Hatred is the second game in the ESRB’s history to be rated AO based solely on violence or language (the other game to have the same situation is the cancelled Playstation game Thrill Kill).
Hatred‘s controversy seems to know no ends, but without a doubt, this is a pretty landmark situation.
