Michael Fassbender’s Assassin’s Creed Film Enters Production this Fall

The long-gestating Assassin’s Creed film is finally heading into production. Starring Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Assassin’s Creed will begin filming in September.

Academy-award winner Marion Cotillard (Inception, The Dark Knight Rises) stars alongside Fassbender under the direction of Justin Kurzel (Macbeth). Details about the film remain shrouded in mystery, and Fassbender doesn’t seem to want to answer many questions. Speaking with ComingSoon, Fassbender would not reveal whether he was playing Desmond Miles, or what historical period the film is set in. Assassin’s Creed could be based off one of the games, or a brand new story. Hopefully we’ll get more details soon.

Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to hit theatres December 21, 2016. The next game in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Victory, will likely be unveiled at E3 2015 and released this November.
