During its E3 Digital Event today, Nintendo lifted the veil on the amiibo support in the upcoming Super Mario Maker. By tapping an amiibo to the Wii U GamePad during a level, Mario can take on the appearance of the amiibo character when he collects a Super Mushroom. 8-bit versions of Wii Fit Trainer and Link were shown off using the feature, but exactly how many amiibo will be supported remains to be seen.
Nintendo also announced a new 8-bit Mario amiibo that, when tapped during a Super Mario Maker level, will transform Mario into a giant 8-bit hero. The new amiibo is expected to launch alongside Super Mario Maker on September 11.
