The UK Charts for last week are in, and, to very little shock, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has taken the top spot. Konami and Hideo Kojima’s final collaboration together was a huge success, allowing it to claim third place in terms of first week sales in 2015 (Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt claim the first and second places). When broken down into platforms, 72% of purchases were on PS4, 22% on Xbox One, 3% on PS3, and 2% on Xbox 360.
Mad Max was the other big release, and it did not do as well as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. However, the title had a solid start and managed to take second place. The previous week’s big releases – Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Until Dawn, and Disney Infinity 3.0 – all slid down two spaces.
