Ashly Burch ‘Fully Embodies the Spirit of Chloe’ in Life Is Strange

Hannah Telle, who plays Max Caulfield in Life Is Strange, has said that fellow co-star Ashly Burch “fully embodies the spirit of Chloe [Price].”

During an interview with Hardcore Gamer, Telle recalled the first time she entered the studio for Life Is Strange, with her voice-over recording session being with none other than Burch.

“I came into the studio and got to watch [Ashly] do a dual recording session with Don McManus, the voice of David Madsen,” Telle explained. “She was wildly inspiring. I was (and still am) in awe of her confidence and ease with vocal projection. When we started our first recording session together, it was quickly clear to me that this was going to be an astounding experience as an actor. It didn’t feel like we were acting. I felt instantly connected to her and believed that she really was this person.

“I felt so much of Max’s inwardness and uncertainty and Ashly was boiling over with this explosive, anger-driven attitude. We seamlessly fell into this synchronicity. She so fully embodies the spirit of Chloe that she feels like the real Chloe to me. I know what Chloe looks like in the game, but when I think of the character, I can only see Ashly in my mind.”

Life Is Strange, which began with Episode 1: Chrysalis earlier this year, has only one episode left for release, Episode 5: Polarized. Telle briefly spoke about the fifth and final episode in Life Is Strange, saying that the story will mark Max’s “Transformation.”

She also praised Life Is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment for how it has handled social themes like depression, bullying, social media and drugs in the title’s story.

Life Is Strange Episode 5: Polarized will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Dontnod’s story-driven episodic series is also scheduled to launch in Japan for PS4, PS3 and PC, publisher Square Enix confirmed last week.
