Nintendo’s latest 3DS offering, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, launched in North America yesterday alongside the first series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards, comprised of 100 unique villagers. The two products are designed to work together, giving players who scan amiibo villagers into the game the opportunity to design unique homes for their favorite animal friends. To help show off the functionality between the cards and Happy Home Designers, Nintendo has released a new video featuring Roald, the adorable penguin with a penchant for race cars.
In Happy Home Designer, players listen to each villagers’ aesthetic requests and decorate their homes accordingly, picking from hundreds of unique pieces of furniture and appliances to create your own interpretation of each client’s dream house. It’s a much more focused and limited experience than prior Animal Crossing games, but the emphasis on creativity and refined decorating mechanics make it a enjoyable, charming experience nonetheless.
