Battlefield 4: Community Operations, which contains the long in-development community map project, has finally been given a release window. Players can dive into the new map sometime this fall.
Dice has worked hand-in-hand with the community over the past year to create this new map. They’ve shared updates, tweaked the map, and tallied votes to finish the map, and the finished product is almost here. Operation Outbreak is the name of the map and is set in a dense jungle where players will fight for supremacy over a valley. The map contains a medical research facility, ancient temple, and a lush waterfall. Taken as a whole, Operation Outbreak is heavily infantry-focused, but agile vehicles (ie. boats, quad bikes, and light attack vehicles) can easily get players across the large landscape.
Battlefield 4: Community Operations will launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 for free. You do need to own a copy of the game, but no other purchases are necessary. Dice will also release a separate Fall Update sometime soon, which will fix a few issues concerning bugs and gun balance.
