Red Fly Studio Wants to Resurrect Cancelled Darth Maul Game

Well this is an interesting tidbit.

According to an AMA that Red Fly Studio’s Dan Borth took part in, the idea of a Darth Maul video game might wind up being more than just a dream. After this studio had their original Darth Maul game cancelled by Lucas Arts back in the day, the idea lay dormant for quite a while, but Borth made it clear that Red Fly has not given up its chase of this particular ghost. The thing is, EA has to approve of this due to licensing regulations if Red Fly has any hope of making this happen, according to one quote from the AMA:

We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again. IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.

With the popularity of Kickstarter and other crowdfunding methods, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some sort of major publisher contribution combined with fan dollars to produce this one should everything go well.
