Get it while it’s available folks, the Blue Blur is leaving Xbox Live Arcade and Wii Virtual Console in the blink of an eye. SEGA has announced they will be delisting both Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2 from the online marketplaces.
These two classics revolutionized the 16-bit era and sparked years of heated console wars between SEGA and Nintendo. There’s been no official reason given for the removal but signs point to a license expiration on October 30. If you want to catch Sonic’s first two games, they’re $4.99 a piece but you’ll have to move quickly.
However, the games are only being delisted and not actually removed. Once licensing agreements are renewed we’ll most likely see the games available again. Until then, you can still check out Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the 3DS, at least it’s something.
