DariusBurst Chronicle Saviours Priced at Full Retail on PC, PS4, Vita

DariusBurst Chronicle Saviours got a release date a couple weeks ago, and while the price wasn’t announced the general assumption was that it would fall in line with the other shooters that have been released this year.  DeltaZeal was nicely inexpensive at $12, and Mushihimesama at $20 and Strania at $15 are both excellent deals as well.  DariusBurst, on the other hand, is landing at full retail, coming in at $60 on PS4, $50 on PC, and $40 on Vita.  That’s not a bad thing, of course, but it is the kind of money that can lead to a bit of sticker-shock from fans who have gotten used to a different pricing structure.  Seeing as the game is getting a relatively simultaneous US/Japan release, it makes sense that the two territories would see similar price tags.

There’s going to be a fair amount of discussion (I’m being polite here) about the price, but the short version is that, if $50 is what it takes to get DariusBurst to the US, then that’s fine.  The reasoning behind this is standard marketing-  1)  Those who find it worth it will pay that price, and 2)  Those who don’t will wait for a sale, if they still want it when it when that happens.  The price is either acceptable or not, and those who find it well worth supporting this kind of release aren’t being taken advantage of.  It’s still cheaper than import, after all, and even if full retail is a bit pricier than expected it’s not like sales won’t happen down the line.  Personally, for that kind of money I want a physical copy, but apparently the rules of 2015 are different and you’re all on my lawn you rotten kids.  Now let me tell you about buying Final Fantasy III on SNES for $70 in 1995 money…
