The upcoming film adaptation based on Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise has had new in-movie photos released online.
British film magazine Empire has the scoop on the new Assassin’s Creed photos, with the two images featuring lead actor Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class) in his role as two of the movie’s main characters: Callum Lynch and Assassin Aguilar.
Yesterday, Fassbender revealed in a new interview that he had his first experience with an Assassin’s Creed title after landing his role in the movie — he didn’t say which installment he’s played — which allowed him to “get an idea of the physicality of the character.”
The Assassin’s Creed movie will have an all-original story focusing on the exploits of Aguilar, a member of the Assassin Brotherhood, in fifteenth-century Spain, as well as a storyline running parallel in the modern-day setting that has Callum Lynch reliving the memories of his ancestor and also opposing the Templar Order.
Michael Fassbender will be reunited with Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard and director Justin Kurzel for the Assassin’s Creed project. The film officially entered production in September of 2015.
The Kurzel-directed Assassin’s Creed movie was originally scheduled to hit cinemas on August 7, 2015, but Ubisoft and Twentieth Century Fox delayed the film and announced a new worldwide release date of December 21, 2016.
