Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Dated for September 27, Sonic 25th Anniversary Party Planned

This weekend at SXSW, during a 25th anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog panel, it was revealed that Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, Sega’s next entry in the Sonic Boom spin-off series, would be released on September 27. The 3DS game was originally set to come out late last year, but given that I have personally seen a man driven to madness by the horror that was Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, I think I speak for all of us when I understand why they would want to make sure this entry is in tip-top shape.

During the same panel, a Sonic 25th Anniversary Party was announced to take place at the House of Blues in San Diego on July 22nd. In addition to limited edition merchandise and musical performances, the event will also apparently feature “the exclusive first look at the future of Sonic,” thus possibly hinting at another new, possibly more major Sonic game to come. Just don’t have characters commenting on bounce pads in this one, and hopefully things will turn out fine.
