Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has officially been named as an ambassador for the free-to-play mobile title Pro Evolution Soccer Club Manager, publisher Konami has announced today.
Konami has revealed that its decision to select the long-standing Arsenal manager is down to the fact that “he truly embodies the game’s engrossing simulation of being a top-level soccer manager.”
Wenger’s appointment to the position means that he will be the face of all marketing material for PES Club Manager, according to Konami’s press release.
Wenger is currently the longest-serving manager in the Premier League for Arsenal, having been appointed to the club in 1996.
During his long run with Arsenal — with very little desire to depart from the club any time soon — Wenger’s guided the football side to the Premier League trophy on three separate occasions and won the FA Cup six times.
To mark the new partnership between Wenger and Konami, the PES Club Manager publisher has confirmed that a new update is being implemented for the mobile title.
“Wenger’s appointment comes as PES Club Manager adds a number of key new elements to delight its fast-growing user base,” Konami said. “Central to the new season is an update to the in-game rosters, wherein all transfers are up to date and the stats for its 5,000 licensed players have been altered according to current form.
“Konami has introduced a ‘Guild’ system, wherein players can form their own Football Associations with friends. Members can then work with other users to create a network and work together. PES Club Manager will also feature a daily login event with prizes for the Wenger update.”
Earlier this month, Konami added World Cup-winning Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos to PES Club Manager’s roster.
PES Club Manager is available as a free download on iOS and Android devices.
