Square Enix has released Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ, a new game in the Kingdom Hearts franchise for mobile devices.
Unchained χ is a prequel to the entire Kingdom Hearts saga, taking place before the Keyblade War. Players will uncover story elements that lead directly into Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III. Unchained χ will also give players their first look into the world as it was before darkness engulfed the world. For the first time ever, players will be able to crate their own Keyblade wielder with a pretty deep customization system. Square Enix promises they will release unique character costumes throughout the year as seasonal events. Expect to dress up your avatar in a wide selection of Disney themes and blockbuster films.
“We wanted to thank all the Kingdom Hearts fans for patiently waiting for the launch of Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ in North America. We would love for everyone to dive into the world of Kingdom Hearts not only through this title, but through the upcoming titles, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III,” said franchise director Tetsuya Nomura. “As an origins story, there are many elements in the game that new players can enjoy. The game can also be easily picked up and played, so it would be great if fans new and old, take the opportunity to play the game.”
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ is available to download for free right now on compatible iOS and Android devices. The game does have microtransactions. Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is out sometime this year exclusively on PS4. Kingdom Hearts III is set for release in the near future on PS4 and Xbox One.
