EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 Day 1 Predictions

Week three is here and things are still getting interesting. Roster shakeups have resulted in Origen dropping to last place and could spell trouble for G2 who sit atop the table. Before we get into that though here’s the standings going into day one.

1. G2 Esports (10 pts)

2. H2K (8 pts)

3. Fnatic (7 pts)

4. Roccat (6 pts)

5. FC Schalke 04, Splyce (5 pts)

7. Unicorns of Love, Giants (3 pts)

9. Team Vitality (3 pts)

10. Origen (2 pts)

Kicking things off is Roccat vs Origen. Roccat picked up a crucial three points last week and could definitely continue that this week. The biggest match though is a battle the first and second spots or G2 and H2K, respectively. G2 will be going into this a man and starting Top laner down as Kikis has left the team. Each game should come off as pretty competitive this week and here’s how I think things will play out. Remember if I predict a tie and a team wins that counts as a loss for me. Likewise if I predict a win and it results in a tie.  (Overall: 3-7)

  • Roccat vs Origen (2-0)
  • Fnatic vs Schalke (2-0)
  • Team Vitality vs UOL (2-0)
  • H2K vs G2 (1-1)
  • Splyce vs Giants (0-2)

According to Lolesports’ rosters for today Origen still haven’t found a replacement for xPeke at ADC. Not that he isn’t capable of holding his own in the bot lane, but he isn’t an adc. The advantage they do get from having him out there with them is huge though. While xPeke may not be playing as much anymore he still has a good understanding of how to play the game. He just needs to have the mechanics to pull it off. Roccat found a great win last week that propelled them up the ladder a good bit. 3 points any time means a lot and I think they can do it again here. While xPeke is valuable Roccat have found a way to, at the very least, tie every team they’ve played thus far. When facing Vitality though they took both games. Hopefully it isn’t any different here.

Fnatic shouldn’t have any trouble taking down Schalke. They’ve been playing well in all of their matches only losing to the number two seed H2K last week. Schalke on the other hand are scraping by with ties doing so last week against the adc-less Origen.

Unfortunately for Vitality the Bo2 system is really making them look bad. They’re sitting in ninth place because they keep splitting games with teams. The only game they’ve loss is against Roccat who were in the same boat before picking up that win. UOL on the other hand can’t stop losing games. The only team they’ve beat is Origen before they lost Forg1ven to Overwatch. Vitality can hopefully pick up a must needed 3 points here to get themselves out of second-to-last place.

G2 and H2K has potential to be a really good matchup. Expect will be taking Kikis’ place in the top lane and can hopefully perform pretty well. So far though we’ve only seen him in one match and that resulted in a loss on Irelia. That’s only one match though and unfair to judge him off of. H2K is a team of solid veterans that should definitely be able to take a game off of G2 at the very least. It’s a battle for the top spot so a win for either team could be a great boost going forward.

To end the day is Splyce vs Giants. Similar to Vitality Splyce is pulling out draws. They did manage to be Schalke before falling to G2. Giants have had to play each of the top teams thus far and beat UOL last week. Something is telling me to give the nod to Giants this week as this should be another good game. A win for Giants would do them well to get them out of the bottom.

More importantly if you have any readability issues or know of a better way to structure things feel free to drop a comment as well. Please if you can save me from counting ties as losses I would be super appreciative /cry.
