Dying Light Surpasses Eight Million Players

Released at the beginning of last year, Dying Light seems to have turned into a big success for Techland. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, CEO Pawel Marchewka talked about the benefits from changing publishers, but more importantly, the incredibly success Dying Light has brought the company.

Marchewka went on to state that the zombie open world game has reached over eight million people worldwide, an increase when comparing it to their Deep Silver published Dead Island franchise. He even stated that the change from Deep Silver “allowed us to create what we wanted, without the influences and changes from the publisher.”

The caveat with this number, though, is that, while it may not include pirated copies of the game, which Marchewka stated is “a big number,” it does include second hand players. So, this doesn’t necessarily translate to eight million sold, but it’s still an incredibly impressive achievement for the company.

Dying Light is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
