We were so close, but it looks like Final Fantasy XV has been delayed yet again.
Final Fantasy XV has been in development for over a decade. It was first announced at E3 2006 as the PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII. After years of teases, the game was reintroduced at E3 2013 as Final Fantasy XV. Fans have been waiting patiently, and finally, at the Uncovered event this year, Square Enix finally dated the game for September 30 on PS4 and Xbox One. However, it now looks like we’re looking at yet another delay.
Overnight, Gamenesia reported that GameStop had received new posters for Final Fantasy XV that had a new release date on them. According to the site, Final Fantasy XV will launch two months later on November 29. Adding legitimacy to the rumored date, a source (the same one that leaked the September 30 date) told Gematsu that the November 29 date is correct.
This is classified as a rumor for now until Square Enix makes an official announcement. However, if true, this is a serious blowback for fans of the franchise who have been waiting for over a decade to get their hands on this game. Gamenesia’s GameStop source says the official announcement will be made after Sunday, August 14. So, at least we won’t have to wait long for clarification.
