Destiny: The Collection Announced; PS4 Exclusive Content Revealed

Activision and Bungie have officially announced Destiny: The Collection, and revealed the PS4 exclusive content for Destiny: Rise of Iron.

Destiny: The Collection is the ultimate bundle for those who have yet to get into the Destiny universe. For $59.99, players will get access to Destiny, Expansion I: The Dark Below, Expansion II: House of Wolves, The Taken King, and the upcoming Rise of Iron. In addition, the compilation will come with a consumable that automatically raises your Guardian’s level to 40. It’s a great package for anyone new to the world of Destiny.

For those on legacy platforms (PS3 and Xbox 360) that are upgrading within their console family (PS3-to-PS4/Xbox 360-to-Xbox One), and own The Taken King, can get Destiny: The Collection on their new console at a discount. With the discount, the compilation will cost $40.

Bungie has also released details about this year’s PS4 exclusive content. As part of a timed-exclusivity deal between Sony and Activision, every year the PlayStation versions of Destiny get exclusive content. Xbox players have to wait a year to get any of it. Here’s what PS4 users are getting this year:

  • Quest line: Show of Strength – “While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers’ brand of worship.” – Tyra Karn. Successfully completing the quest line yields you a new ship, the Timeless Tereshkova
  • PvP Map: Icarus – Set in the Languid Sea on Mercury, this Golden Age solar farm has been left untouched for unknown reasons. This mid-sized map is compatible with any 6v6 mode and features a good mix of long sight-lines and close-combat environments. The main chamber’s closing doors are dangerous, but provide a fast way through the map’s center.

Destiny: Rise of Iron is out September 20 on PS4 and Xbox One. Destiny: The Collection launches the same day.
