Report: PS4 Pro Will Not Support 4K UHD Blu-ray

PlayStation 4 Pro (formerly known commonly as PS Neo or PS4K) was just announced at PlayStation Meeting 2016 and has been an undeniable surprise with its November 10 release date and price point of $399. Although what we’ve seen so far looks impressive, it comes as a shock that it looks like the PS4 Pro will not support 4K Ultra-High-Definition.

While there have been no announcements of physical games being pressed on the format, this means that those looking to use the device as a player for the 4K Ultra HD physical film format will be out of luck.

Making the move more surprising, the Xbox One S, which will be a competitor to Sony’s lower tier PS4 Slim, will support 4K UHD Blu-rays.
