The first image from the rumored Assassin’s Creed: Empire may have just leaked.
Assassin’s Creed: Empire is supposedly the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Ubisoft earlier this year opted to skip releasing an Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, deciding to focus on fixing the franchise after the disastrous Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Kotaku’s Jason Schreier also revealed some info about what the next game is going to be like. Back in January, Jason reported that the game would be titled Assassin’s Creed: Empire and that it would take place in Egypt. It would appear, if this screenshot is real, that both of these reports are true.
French site JeuxVideo posted a screengrab taken off of a laptop screen. The image shows the production wireframe for Assassin’s Creed: Empire, alongside some Egyptian pyramids. Finally, to top it all off, there’s a menu showcasing traditional Assassin’s Creed menu options. We have crafting, progression, Ubisoft Club, and, of course, the e-Store. The employee, Peter Tran, has worked on numerous games over the years, including Halo 5: Guardians.
This obviously needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt. All Ubisoft would confirm earlier this year was that there would be no new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016. There’s always a chance this is fake, but there’s no way to be certain until Ubisoft makes an announcement. We’ll let you know if there are any updates or announcements concerning the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
While we won’t get a new Assassin’s Creed for a while, players will be able to sink their teeth into Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection on PS4 and Xbox One this holiday season.
