Okay, this is pretty cool. As part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics has decided to hold a special, and rather exclusive, event in Northern California’s Santa Cruz mountains. Far from a typical meet and greet type party, though, the event focuses on wilderness survival. In a partnership with Adventure Out and joined by NatGeo Remote Survival host Cliff Hodges, attendees will have a chance to learn wilderness skills and compete for a chance to win a rare prize.
It’ll all start with a BBQ where fans can rub elbows with the host and developers. Afterwards, folks will get to learn skills like “fire-by-friction, constructing earthen shelters, collecting & purifying water, and making a bundle bow for hunting food.” Teams will be paired up with Crystal Dynamics staff to compete for points in various activities and challenges, with the winners taking home an unknown “rare prize.” All attendees will also be entered into a raffle for a PlayStation 4 Pro as well as a copy of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration.
This November 12 event actually sounds like a lot of fun, and if I lived out that way, I would totally plunk down the $125 asking price to participate. (The price includes the food and survival gear, plus some other swag.) Should anyone reading this have the proximity and cash to participate, I would recommend reserving a spot as soon as possible. There are only thirty five slots.
