Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the steadily decreasing World of Warcraft numbers, it appears as though Leigon has breathed new life into the franchise. Today, Blizzard revealed that over 3.3 million players have purchased Leigon on Day One, resulting in a 30% active online player count increase.
Word on this comes via Activision Blizzard’s latest investor relations call, which also revealed that Blizzard’s online community is sitting at 42 million players, making it shockingly robust compared to that over other major developers.
What’s more, with all of the publicity surrounding the joy in playing through Leigon’s content over and over again, it’s hard not to wonder what’s next for the World of Warcraft name. Could this mean that further expansions are going to continue rolling out, or will Blizzard simply sit on what it has now and ride it off into the sunset.
Our bet is likely on the former, but let us know what you think in the comments below.
