Paladins Surpasses 4 Million Players, Console Beta Coming Soon

Hi-Rez have posted some impressive numbers for their free-to-play hero shooter, Paladins.

Paladins: Champions of the Realm went into open beta on PC back in September, and the hero shooter has been a tremendous success. Since the open beta launch, the game has surpassed four million players worldwide, and, according to Hi-Rez, is one of the most popular games on Steam.

“The worldwide response to Paladins has been incredible,” said Todd Harris, Chief Operating Officer of HI-Rez Studios. “It has been thrilling to see the game grow week-over-week since the Steam Open Beta began in mid-September, as well as to hear all of the player feedback, which we are constantly using to improve the game.”

This is just the beginning for Paladins. The game will enter closed beta on PS4 and Xbox One in the near future. Plus, the game will enter the Chinese market soon thanks to a partnership with Tencent. Finally, there’s the Paladins Evie’s Winter Class, an open competitive tournament to players all over the world. The event will take place November 12-December 18 in between the end of of the Champion’s Circuit Gauntlet and the Paladins Invitational at Hi-Rez Expo. There the best Paladins teams will play for $150,000.

“Paladins has a thriving community full of people who not only play Paladins themselves but love to watch others play at a competitive level,” Said Dan McHugh, Esports Manager of Hi-Rez Studios. “Every week there are new Paladins players making names for themselves, and this tournament will provide the rising stars of the growing Paladins community a chance to show their skills.”

Paladins: Champions of the Realm is available for download now on PC via Steam. We’ll update you when Hi-Rez announces a date for the PS4 and Xbox One closed beta.
