Devolver Digital to Publish My Friend Pedro: Blood Bullets Bananas

Always eager to add yet another notch to their belt of acclaimed indie titles, Devolver Digital recently announced that they would help publish DeadToast Entertainment’s acrobatic 2D shooter My Friend Pedro: Blood Bullets Bananas. The creation of former Media Molecule developer Victor Agren, Blood Bullets Bananas will be a full update of the original My Friend Pedro, which originally began life as a playable game on Adult Swim’s website. In it, you play as a hitman taking instructions from a flying banana named Pedro, and that setup alone pretty much guaranteed it a spot on Devolver Digital’s radar.

Kidding aside, a two-minute video of the game in progress was released alongside the announcement, showing off how a typical level in Blood Bullets Bananas would play out. You can check it out below, and looking at it, it’s easy to see why Devolver would be attracted to it, given the comparison it draws to other games of theirs that are similar in style and gameplay such as Broforce, Hotline Miami, and Not a Hero. Of particular note are the fancy acrobatics and slow motion features, not to mention the wicked soundtrack, which looks to make for some chaotic fun. Notably absent is Pedro, the king banana himself, but we’ll probably see more of him as development continues. No word on a release date yet for My Friend Pedro: Blood Bullets Bananas, but you can check out the official Steam page at the moment, no doubt adding it to your wish list so that you can begin eagerly anticipating the day when a piece of fruit tells you to kill things (not that the pomegranates don’t do that already…).
