Bethesda Parent Company Acquires Escalation Studios

Zenimax Media, the company that owns Bethesda Game Studio and all of its sister studios like id and Arkane, has acquired Escalation Studios, according to a post on Bethesda’s blog on Wednesday.

While you might not know Escalation, you will know some of the games they’ve worked on. Huge titles like World of Warcraft, DOOM, Halo, and even Rock Band were made with the help of Escalation Studios. According to Bethesda, the team will essentially do the same thing, now they will just be doing it for the various Zenimax studios.

Todd Vaughn, Vice President of Development at Bethesda had this to say about the new member of the “Zenimax Media Family”; “We have continually been impressed with the team at Escalation that Tom and Marc have assembled. Their commitment to quality and innovation has made significant contributions to the projects we’ve worked on together, and we’re excited to have them join ZeniMax.”

An extra pair of hands could mean a few things for future Bethesda games; faster turnarounds, better graphics, and fewer bugs are just a few.

The next game to come from Bethesda will be Arkane’s Prey, which is planned for a May 5 release. You can check out the most recent story trailer here. The next Wolfenstein might be on its way too, with hints of its title coming out of last year’s E3, and the coy remarks of the voice actor who plays BJ Blaskowitz giving us hope.

So what would you like to see Escalation help out with? Let us know in the comments.
