Fifteen years, that’s how long the .hack series has been with us. While it’s one that has become somewhat forgotten about in the west, especially with the last game hitting North America close to ten years ago, it remains one of the more revolutionary RPGs back in the early aughts of the PlayStation 2’s life cycle.
It was also one of CyberConnect2’s first major games (after Silent Bomber, of course) before they became well known for making Naruto fighting games. Even though the series continued in Japan through a handful of mobile releases, the .hack brand has been dormant, until now.
After many rumors and reports, Bandai Namco has officially announced that a .hack//G.U. trilogy remaster will be released later this year. This will inclue .hack/.G.U. Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption all nicely wrapped up in one package. It will feature 1080p visuals, a 16:9 widescreen picture and 60 fps gameplay.
.hack//G.U. Last Recode will be available for PlayStation 4 and PC later this year.
