Niche game and all, the third installment in the deadly but not-so-serious Danganronpa visual novel series has reached a good degree of critical acclaim, regardless of its nature. Sure, in a world of high-budget 3D games, a visual novel murder mystery would need to work quite hard to hold interest to the point of competing outside its very specific, dedicated niche fandom. That said, we thought Danganronpa V3 did quite well in engaging us well past the point of being “good enough.” As luck would have it, we aren’t alone. Like its predecessors, Danganronpa V3 has garnered praise thanks to its colorful cast of characters who demand the player’s attention by staying unabashedly their absurd selves.
