Spike Chunsoft hosted a Twitch stream for Fire Pro Wrestling World and announced a major addition to the game. Beyond the franchise getting its first officially-licensed wrestler ever, this will be the first wrestling game and one of the few games period to get DLC where 100% of the proceeds go to benefit a single person. Yoshohiro Takayama is a legendary Japanese MMA fighter and pro wrestler – and one whose life and career changed forever taking a sunset flip earlier this year. The co-creator of “the Frye-Takayama spot” from PRIDE 21 in MMA and pro wrestling was paralyzed from the neck down. The game will feature its first DLC character in the form of Takayama along with a new move – the spirit punch rush, at the cost of $2.99.
All proceeds of this DLC go to help paying his medical bills – and it’s an admirable and unique way to not only honor a legend, but help a man in a time of need. The DLC goes on sale on December 19 and will hopefully be a must-buy to anyone who has enjoyed his work over the years in either or both of his chosen professions. Takayama was taken out for a while with a stroke, but it’s quite clear that he will never come back to the ring after this injury – and he may very well never be able to live a normal life again. Hopefully, this DLC does well and it will at least ease some of the financial burden he and his family are under. Fire Pro Wrestling World has been available for several months on Steam at a cost of $19.99 – and is well-worth that price even in early access thanks to the finely-tuned gameplay and the hard work of those who have created wrestlers since its release. The stream also announced that the game will leave early access on December 19 and will retain its $19.99 price until January 5 when it goes up to $29.99.
