Pokémon Crystal Formally Announced for 3DS Virtual Console

Nintendo has formally announced that Pokémon Crystal is making its way to the 3DS Virtual Console.

When Pokémon Gold and Silver hit the 3DS Virtual Console earlier this year, they did so without Pokémon Crystal. The third entry in the second-generation of Pokémon, Crystal was mysteriously missing. Well, now we know that it’s finally coming in January.

Pokémon Crystal launched back in 2000 for the Gameboy Color and served as the final entry in the second-generation of Pokémon games. Crystal featured numerous enhancements over Gold and Silver, including the ability to choose between playing as male or female, animated sprites, and various balancing fixes. The game also featured a reworked story focusing on the Legendary Dog, Suicune.

Pokémon Crystal hits the 3DS Virtual Console on January 26, 2018. Like previous Pokémon releases on Virtual Console, players will be able to transfer their Pokémon in Crystal to the Pokémon Bank, which can then be transferred to current releases.
