Today marks a sad day for Pro Evolution Soccer fans as Konami decides to move on from its ten-year partnership with UEFA Championship league.
In the official statement it sounds like things went over smoothly and Konami and UEFA will continue to work toward figuring out how to best work together in the future, as the relationship remains strong.
Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein has this to say:
“Konami has been a strong licensing partner for the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, with our competition brand being heavily featured within the video game and as part of the popular Konami-organized UEFA Champions League e-sports tournaments’.”
The senior director of brand & business development, Jonas Lygaard stating:
“The UEFA Champions League license has given us a platform to create unique experiences and provide football fans from all over the world with an opportunity to enjoy this competition first-hand.”
Afterwards he goes on to talk about keeping the relationship alive and well between Konami and the UEFA. Sorry Pro Evolution Soccer fans, looks like there won’t be any new titles coming down the pipe anytime soon, but who knows?
