Finnish developers Housemarque have been relatively open and honest about their time before, during and after the creation of their critically-acclaimed arcade-style, twin-stick shooter Nex Machina. Open and honest to the point that a lack in commercial sales meant that the studio had to admit that focusing all their efforts on a nostalgia-induced genre such as this, may not be the most financially-just venture, with the studio only recently teasing their next project which looks to move away from the developer’s talent at crafting enjoyable arcade-like entries.
But it looks like Housemarque are about to provide us with a bit more of a behind-the-scenes look at the game’s development and all the subsequent drama that likely followed. The Name of the Game follows the studio over the course of three years as they went from financing Nex Machina, to developing it, promoting it and eventually releasing it. The Name of the Game will release sometime this year, but you can check out a teaser of the film below.
