Well, after the leaked advertisement and the official teaser, today we finally got our look at the official gameplay trailer for Rage 2, the sequel to id Software’s 2011 shooter, which you can naturally check out below. While the actual gameplay portions do seem a bit limited to the beginning and end of the clip, it does present the game’s tone perfectly, filled with neon anarchy and Andrew W.K. music, looking almost like a non-cel-shaded Borderlands at certain points (which is meant in a good way, though).
Being co-developed by id Software and Avalanche Studios and described as a marriage of the former’s FPS pedigree and the latter’s skill at crafting insane sandbox games, the game sees you playing as Walker, the last Ranger of Vineland, attempting to take down the villainous Authority from the first game. In order to survive the bizarre wasteland created by an asteroid strike (along with its gangs and mutants), Walker will need to make use of their special Nanotrite abilities to help them in combat, as seen toward the end when they leap up to slam into a giant robot. It looks like a ton of fun, and Rage 2 will be due out for PC, XB1, and PS4 in Spring 2019. Odds are that more details will be revealed at Bethesda’s E3 press conference next month, though, so stay tuned.
