Nintendo today announced that fans attending E3 2018 will need to register to play the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game.
Starting with E3 2017, the ESA opened the floodgates for fans to attend the show. An unorganized mess, most of these attendees flooded towards one area in particular, Nintendo’s booth. The chance to play Super Mario Odyssey was too enticing to pass up, and so the booth was plagued with long lines and heavy crowds. Hoping to avoid that situation this year with Super Smash Bros., Nintendo is implementing a registration system for the game.
Anyone who registers for E3 2018 before May 31 will receive an email from the event’s organizers to register to play the game. You’ll be assigned a time slot and handed a QR code to present at the booth at the prescribed time. It’s very important to register because Nintendo will not be allowing on-site registration. If you want to play the game, you have to register. No other game at the booth will be subject to this system.
“We’re always looking to improve the ways people can maximize the fun they have with Nintendo at E3,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This year our focus is on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game, and we want as many people as possible to give it a try.”
E3 2018 will take place June 12-14 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Remember, register or you won’t get to play Super Smash Bros.
