Destiny 2: Forsaken Formally Revealed, Out in September

Bungie today formally announced Destiny 2: Forsaken, the first major expansion arriving this September on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

During a live stream, Bungie finally pulled back the curtain on what they’ve been working on since the release of Destiny 2. Much like Destiny: The Taken King, Destiny 2: Forsaken aims to vastly change the core experience all while delivering tons of new content for players to salivate over.

Destiny 2: Forsaken adds two new destinations to explore that takes players on a new journey into the wild frontiers of of the solar system where the lines between justice and revenge are blurred. Following years of strife following the events of The Taken King, the Reef has fallen into lawlessness. Explore the new regions, unlock new powers, and earn powerful new weapons as you seek to restore order to the region. It all culminates at The Dreaming City, a new area that houses the new raid. A new update arriving with Forsaken adds tons of quality-of-life improvements including a new weapon slot system, random rolls, and an overhaul of the mods systems among other improvements.

Forsaken includes a new mode that blends elements of PvE and PvP to deliver a unique experience. Called Gambit, two teams work to defeat enemies and collect valuable resources. However, at certain times, the enemy team can invade your game. Players attending E3 2018 next week will get to try Gambit for themselves.

“Since the launch of the Destiny franchise, we have always strived to create innovative experiences that will challenge and reward different kinds of players and ensure their beloved pastime is rewarding,” said Scott Taylor, Project Lead at Bungie. He added, “We can’t wait to share Forsaken’s new Gambit mode with our fans and offer them a new way to play that can be enjoyed competitively and cooperatively.”

“With an absorbing new story, created by High Moon Studios in partnership with Bungie, Destiny 2: Forsaken offers core players an epic experience, and offers a compelling entry point for new players,” said Byron Beede, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Destiny at Activision. “I’m looking forward to watching players get their hands on some of the most requested features requested by the dedicated Destiny 2 community.”
