THQ Nordic today announced they have acquired yet another IP.
Kingdoms of Amalur now belongs to the growing publisher who acquired the rights from the defunct 38 Studios. Kingdoms of Amalur joins a growing list of IP THQ Nordic has acquired in recent years. The list includes recent acquisitions like Timesplitters and Koch Media, the owners of Deep Silver (Saints Row, Metro, etc.).

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was a third-person action-RPG set in a medieval fantasy world. Though the game scored well and sold decently, 38 Studios ended up going bankrupt due to mismanagement of funds. The State of Rhode Island sued company CEO Curt Schilling following the studio’s bankruptcy in March 2012. The IP remained dormant since then.
We’ll have to wait and see what THQ Nordic does with their newly acquired franchise. In the meantime, the publisher intends to launch Darksiders III, another acquisition, this November.
