The recent Black Friday to Cyber Monday appeared to work in Mario Party’s favor, or more specifically, Super Mario Party’s favor, it would appear. This year’s entrant in the long-running (as far back as the N64) series — and the first in three years, following the tenth numbered release on the Wii U back in 2015 — has managed to rack up more than a million copies sold in the US alone.
It was also the fastest-selling entrant in the series to date, according to Nintendo’s own internal sales figure, and becomes the fifth million-seller in the US following The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey. And there’s plenty of good reasons to check out Mario’s latest party antics it would appear — the ability to use character-specific dice blocks especially, as simple a premise it might sound, working quite a treat during the usual madness that is any game of Mario Party.
