The Last of Us Part II Finishes Shoot on ‘Complicated, Heart-Wrenching’ Scene

The Last of Us Part II actors have motion captured “one of the most complicated and heart-wrenching” scenes in the highly anticipated title.

That’s according to co-writer and co-director Neil Druckmann, who tweeted a picture featuring actors Shannon Woodward and Ashley Johnson (posted below).

“Killer shoot this week, including one of the most complicated and heart-wrenching scene[s] we’ve ever worked on,” he wrote.

“Time for some vacation! Happy holidays… more to come next year.”

Woodward is providing the motion capture and voice for Dina, who appeared in Naughty Dog’s E3 trailer for the action-adventure title and would seem to be a love interest of Johnson’s character, Ellie.

The Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End developer unveiled the sequel to its critically acclaimed title at PlayStation Experience in 2016.

Troy Baker will reprise his role as Joel from the 2013 title, while Victoria Grace, Ian Alexander, Emily Swallow and Laura Bailey have all been confirmed in the game’s cast.

The Last of Us Part II will launch as an exclusive on PlayStation 4. A launch window — or release date — has not been revealed.

Earlier this year, Naughty Dog confirmed that The Last of Us had sold seventeen million copies worldwide.

Hardcore Gamer’s review for the title said that it “tackles the medium in ways that only [Hideo] Kojima’s finest moments have attempted before.”

Our reviewer added: “It feels like an important evolutionary step in presentation and tone, presenting a believable narrative populated with realistic characters, structured in a way that remains captivating until the last word is spoken.

“Multiplayer is disposable and combat can feel a bit rudimentary at times complete with balance issues, but being perpetually enveloped in the stunning world Naughty Dog created makes it easy to forget any flaws.”
