One Tiny Free Game a Day For a Year with Meditations

Just because today is the same as yesterday is the same as tomorrow is no reason to dispense with the idea of New Beginnings.  Every day offers the same options for starting fresh as any other but the Gregorian calendar starts on January 1, making a great mental division between old and new.  2018 is over and done with and what better way to start 2019 than with a one-year project to deliver a moment of happiness to as many people as possible?  Meditations is a games launcher created by Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail to share his love of tiny little bite-sized gaming experiences, featuring a single new game every day and all of them designed to be completed in five minutes.  The first one is the game that inspired the project, Tempres, which I’ll grant took me a while to get to grips with because part of the experience is figuring out the win condition as you go.  Tomorrow’s game will be something completely different by a new creator, as will the day after that, and the day after the day after that, all the way through December 31 2019.

There are a couple of disclaimers here, though.  The launcher only keeps one game per day, so if you miss a day then you’ll want to hope the developer tosses it up on or somewhere similar.  Also, because there are such a wide variety of people having been given free reign to create whatever they want, there are bound to be topics or gameplay that simply aren’t for everyone.  If one game isn’t right there’s always tomorrow for it to be better, though.  Every day is a new day and guaranteed to be something different.  That’s just how time works.

The Meditations launcher can be found over here.  As a note, there’s a slightly weird bug in the launcher version of Tempres where the score doesn’t show up right, so if you want to see today’s game without the time pressure of only being able to play it now it’s also available at
