The Division 2 won’t be on Steam, Ubisoft goes with Epic Games Store

While Ubisoft has its own gaming platform for games purchased from them directly on PC, there has always been an outlet. Far Cry 5 was available on Steam, along with Rainbow Six: Siege and The Division. It looks like the tides are changing as Epic continues to take a chunk out of Steam. Ubisoft has announced that The Division 2 will be available via the Epic Games Store on top of its own UPlay platform. Pre-orders are now live for the game on the Epic Games Store for the standard, gold and ultimate editions. Ubisoft mentioned in the press release that both are working together to integrate key components of UPlay and Epic’s online services. Any pre-order will guarantee access to the game’s private beta ahead of launch. The game could eventually make its way over to Steam, but at launch it looks like it’ll just be UPlay and Epic Store.
