IO Interactive to Open Second Studio in Sweden

Danish game developers IO Interactive — best known for the beloved Hitman series, which got itself a new iteration in the form of Hitman 2 in November last year — are to expand, opening a brand new studio in the Swedish city of Malmö. Making the announcement today via the studio’s own blog, IO CEO Hakan Abrak stated that the intent is to bring on additional staff in “creating brand-new and exciting endeavours, new universes, new franchises.”

“The IOI expansion in Malmö was a natural choice as there is a very strong existing video game industry.” Abrak continued. “I believe it has all opportunities to become the epicentre of game development in Scandinavia.” The new studio will also continue to support the Copenhagen team in providing additional updates to Hitman 2 in the near future.
